Dallas Utilities: Pay Bill, Login & Phone 2026
City of Dallas Water Utilities • DallasGo customer guide
If you need to pay a City of Dallas Water Utilities bill, register for the upgraded DallasGo portal, make a Quickpay payment, start water service or report a water emergency, use the official routes below.
Dallas Water Utilities, commonly shortened to DWU, handles drinking water, wastewater and related customer billing. The City’s upgraded DallasGo system launched in 2026, so some account and AutoPay steps are different from older instructions still found online.
Dallas Water Utilities Quick Answers
DWU says every customer must create a new profile for the upgraded DallasGo platform.
Customers who used AutoPay before the upgrade must re-enroll. Free AutoPay is available with eCheck.
As of this review, DallasGo’s official transition page still states that late-payment fees and water-service disconnections are suspended during the upgrade transition.
How to Pay a Dallas Water Utilities Bill
DWU currently offers DallasGo, Quickpay, phone, mail, in-person and authorized pay-station options. Fees differ by method, so the cheapest method is not always the same as the fastest one.
| Payment method | Current fee information | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| DallasGo one-time payment | 3.15% convenience fee currently applies. | Online payment when you want immediate account access and confirmation. |
| DallasGo AutoPay with eCheck | No convenience fee listed by the City. | Recurring payment from a checking account. |
| Debit / credit card | 3.15% processor convenience fee. | Customers who prefer card payment and accept the fee. |
| Phone payment | 3.15% convenience fee. | Paying through DWU’s automated telephone payment route. |
| No City convenience fee listed. | Non-urgent check or money-order payment with enough delivery time. | |
| Dallas City Hall | No City convenience fee listed for in-person payment. | Customers who want cashier assistance or physical proof of payment. |
After opening the official payment page
- Choose DallasGo, AutoPay, phone, mail, authorized pay station or City Hall.
- Review the current fee beside the method you intend to use.
- For online payment, follow the City’s DallasGo link rather than returning to a search result.
- Confirm your DWU account and service address before submitting money.
- Save the payment confirmation until DallasGo shows the transaction correctly.

A drop box is also available in the driveway between Young Street and Canton Street. Do not put cash in the drop box.
DallasGo Login: What Changed in 2026
Dallas Water Utilities launched its upgraded billing system and DallasGo platform in May 2026. If you used DallasGo before the upgrade, your old login and saved AutoPay setup are not enough.
What You Need to Register
- A valid email address
- Your old or new DWU account number
- Your new DallasGo activation code, if available
- Or another City-listed identity detail already on the account
- Access to your email for the verification code
- Your current Dallas water bill or welcome letter when available
DWU says the new account number and activation code appear on welcome letters and new bills issued after the 2026 upgrade. Customers can also use the City’s Find Your New Account Number tool.
After opening the DallasGo page
- If you do not know your new account number, use Find Your New Account Number first.
- Choose Register for DallasGo if you have not created a post-upgrade profile.
- Use your email, new account number and the verification information requested by the City.
- Verify your email when DallasGo sends the code.
- After registration, sign in and verify the service address and account balance.
- If you previously used AutoPay, set it up again because old settings did not transfer.
After opening the DallasGo login

- Check the current balance and service address.
- Review water usage if a bill is unexpectedly high.
- Use payment-plan tools if you need an arrangement.
- Review AutoPay settings rather than assuming your previous setup transferred.
Quickpay Without Signing In

Start, Transfer or Stop Dallas Water Service
Starting a New DWU Account
Dallas customers can request a new account online through DallasGo, call DWU Customer Service or visit Dallas City Hall. Any required deposit is billed on the first bill rather than necessarily being collected before service begins.
DWU says a security deposit is not required when at least one of several conditions applies, including good DWU credit history, being age 65 or older, owning or buying the property, having an eligible guarantor, or providing a qualifying 12-month payment history from another utility.
Official DWU New Account & Deposit InformationAfter opening the account-information page
- Choose the City’s online account-opening route, phone service or in-person option.
- Prepare the new service address and account-holder details.
- Review the deposit-waiver criteria before assuming a deposit is required.
- If using prior utility history, make sure it documents 12 consecutive months of timely payments.
- Save any online request confirmation.
Moving to Another Dallas Address
Existing DWU customers moving within Dallas should contact Customer Service at 214-651-1441. DWU says the representative will need your account number, new address and new telephone number.
DWU also says a small transfer charge is added to the first bill at the new address. The account-information page does not publish a fixed amount for that transfer charge, so confirm the current amount when requesting the move.
Moving Out of Dallas
Call Customer Service with the date you want service stopped and provide a forwarding address. If a security deposit remains on the account, DWU says the deposit plus applicable interest is credited to the final bill. Any resulting refund or remaining balance is then handled through the final account process.
Official DWU Transfer & Moving InformationAfter opening the transfer-information page
- Use the section for moving within Dallas or moving out of the city.
- Have your current account number ready.
- For a transfer, prepare your new address and telephone number.
- For move-out, give DWU the final service date and forwarding address.
- Ask about the transfer charge or final deposit credit before ending the call.
Dallas Water Late Fees and the 2026 DallasGo Transition
Dallas normally publishes a 5% late fee for payments received after the due date in its FY2026 water-rate schedule.
However, the City’s current DallasGo upgrade page states that late-payment fees and water-service disconnections are not being imposed during the DallasGo transition period. That transition notice is still displayed on the official page as of this article’s September 2026 review.
If the transition protection ends, the standard FY2026 rate sheet says a 5% late fee applies to payments received after the due date.
Check Current DallasGo Transition StatusAfter opening the DallasGo status page
- Read the alert near the top of the page.
- Check whether the City still states that late fees and disconnections are suspended.
- If your bill shows a past-due amount, compare it with the current account balance in DallasGo.
- Contact Customer Service when your account status does not match the transition notice.
Dallas Water Payment Plans and Operation WaterShare
DWU offers payment-plan help separately from charitable assistance. A payment plan is for managing a balance over time; Operation WaterShare is a financial-assistance program for eligible customers.
Request help through DallasGo, call 214-651-1441, visit City Hall or email the DWU payment-plan team.
DWU provides financial assistance to qualifying customers through City community-center appointment programs.
DWU Payment Plan
For payment-plan help, DWU currently lists dwupaymentplan@dallas.gov and says email replies are generally provided within one business day. Customers can also call 214-651-1441 or request a plan through DallasGo.
Official DWU Payment Plan OptionsAfter opening the payment page
- Find the Payment Plan Assistance section.
- Choose DallasGo, email, phone or in-person help.
- Keep your account number, service address and current balance ready.
- Save any approval or confirmation you receive.
- Continue following the agreed payment schedule after the plan is established.
Operation WaterShare
Operation WaterShare assists qualifying DWU customers with water bills. The City currently lists appointment lines at 214-670-8416 and 214-670-6340, generally Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
A separate senior-services number, 214-670-5227, is listed for qualifying customers age 62 and older when the utility account has been flagged as a senior-resident account.
Official Operation WaterShare InformationAfter opening Operation WaterShare
- Choose the assistance office or senior-service route that applies to you.
- Call the appointment line during the hours published by the City.
- Ask what account and income documents are currently required.
- Follow the eligibility instructions provided by the assistance office.
High Dallas Water Bill or Leak: What to Check First
A high Dallas water bill can come from actual consumption, an estimated meter reading, irrigation or a plumbing leak. Start by comparing the billed usage rather than only the dollar total.
DWU says blocked or inaccessible meters may be estimated using prior consumption, with over- or under-estimates corrected on a later bill.
Residential wastewater billing uses the December-through-March water average or current actual usage, whichever is less.
Qualifying water leaks can be reviewed through DWU’s Leak Adjustment Program after repairs are complete.
Dallas Leak Adjustment Rules
- The leak must have caused a substantial increase in water use.
- Repairs must be completed before consideration.
- Only one adjustment is available per 12-month period.
- The adjustment can cover no more than three months.
- The request must include repair details and the DWU account number.
- Review can take up to 60 days depending on the repair date.
Filing a request does not guarantee an adjustment. DWU says a temporary hold is placed on the account during the review so late-payment charges are not assessed, but customers should continue making monthly payments at or above their normal bill amount to help avoid service disruption.
If approved, DWU recalculates the excess water usage associated with the leak at the lowest applicable rate. The program does not reimburse plumbing-repair costs and does not apply to wastewater or sewer leaks.
Official Dallas Leak Adjustment ProgramAfter opening the leak-adjustment page
- Confirm the repair is complete.
- Prepare the repair date, description, service address and account number.
- If the property has multiple meters, include the affected meter number.
- Submit the request online or use one of the City’s mail, email, fax or drop-off methods.
- Continue normal monthly payments while DWU reviews the request.
- Watch for the adjustment or denial letter sent after review.
Dallas Water & Sewer Rates for FY2026
Dallas Water Utilities’ FY2026 rate schedule is effective October 1, 2025. A 5/8-inch meter is identified by DWU as the average residential customer meter size.
| Residential charge | Water | Sewer |
|---|---|---|
| 5/8-inch monthly customer charge | $5.93 | $5.34 |
| Up to 4,000 gallons | $2.17 per 1,000 gal. | $6.19 per 1,000 gal. |
| 4,001-10,000 gallons | $4.81 per 1,000 gal. | $6.19 per 1,000 gal. |
| 10,001-20,000 gallons | $7.98 per 1,000 gal. | $6.19 per 1,000 gal. |
| 20,001-30,000 gallons | $11.40 per 1,000 gal. | $6.19 per 1,000 gal. |
| Above 30,000 gallons | $13.20 per 1,000 gal. | $6.19 per 1,000 gal. |
A Simple 4,000-Gallon Example
For a residence with a 5/8-inch meter and 4,000 billed gallons of both water and sewer usage, the published FY2026 water-and-sewer portion works out like this:
Dallas calculates residential wastewater volume using the average water billed in December, January, February and March, subject to a 40,000-gallon maximum, or the current month’s actual water consumption when that amount is lower.
Official Dallas Utility Bill & Rate ExplanationAfter opening the Dallas bill explanation
- Review the current effective-date notice.
- Open DWU Monthly Payment Rates for the official water and sewer schedule.
- Compare the water meter size and consumption tier with your own bill.
- Check sanitation and stormwater separately rather than treating the water rate as the full bill.
- Use the DWU calculator linked by the City if you want another estimate.
Dallas Water Emergency: Use 3-1-1
Dallas Water Utilities emergency services are available 24 hours a day. Call 3-1-1 from within Dallas or 214-670-3111 when calling from outside the city limits.
Report the exact location or nearest intersection and describe where water is surfacing.
Use 311 when DWU needs to assist with a meter leak or emergency water shutoff.
Report public-system wastewater overflow promptly through the 24-hour emergency route.
Know Where Your Private Shutoff Valve Is
DWU recommends locating your home’s private water cut-off valve before an emergency. It is often near an outside faucet, irrigation valve or property-line area depending on the age and layout of the home.
If the property does not have a private cut-off valve or you need emergency help shutting water off at the meter, contact Dallas 311.

- Call 3-1-1 inside Dallas or 214-670-3111 from outside city limits.
