Alcoa Utilities: Pay Bill, Login & Phone 2026

City of Alcoa, Tennessee • Electric, water & wastewater customer help

If you need to pay a City of Alcoa Utilities bill, log in to the payment system, report an electric outage, start service or check a 2026 rate, the details below are organized by the task you actually need to complete.

One point matters in Alcoa: utility boundaries extend beyond the city limits. Alcoa Electric serves communities across the surrounding area, and the City’s water and wastewater systems have their own service footprint and inside-versus-outside-city rates.

Independent guide: city-utilities.org is not the City of Alcoa. We cannot accept utility payments, access customer accounts, restore power or approve a service application. Use the official City website and payment system linked below for account-sensitive actions.

How to Pay a City of Alcoa Utilities Bill

Alcoa accepts several payment methods, but they do not post at the same speed. The City explicitly warns customers to pay attention to processing time when an account is delinquent.

Normal monthly payment

Online, phone, PowerPal, bank draft, mail, drop box and in-person payment are all listed options.

Need immediate credit?

Do not rely on the online payment system. Call the Business Office to determine the appropriate payment route.

Service is scheduled for disconnection

The City specifically says not to use online payment for this situation.

Did not receive a confirmation?

Do not submit another payment. Alcoa warns duplicate attempts can cause banks to hold funds for up to 10 days.

Official City of Alcoa Payment Options
After opening the official payment page
  1. Read the City’s processing-time warning before choosing a payment method.
  2. If paying online, follow the City’s Online Utility Bill Payment link to its secure processor.
  3. Use the account number and password shown on your bill, or create login credentials using the account information requested.
  4. Review the 2.85% card convenience fee before paying with a credit or debit card.
  5. Do not submit the payment twice if a confirmation does not appear; contact the City first.
Avoid unofficial payment sites: the City of Alcoa specifically warns customers about Doxo. The City says it is not affiliated with Doxo, cannot track payments made through it and has received concerns about delayed payments potentially causing late charges or disconnection. For online payment, use the payment system reached from the official City website.

Credit and Debit Card Fee

The City’s current payment page states that a 2.85% convenience fee applies to all credit and debit card payments. Visa, Mastercard and Discover are listed for phone payments.

Special Medicare Advantage Utility Payments

Alcoa also publishes specific instructions for certain Medicare Advantage benefit cards. Blue Cross Blue Shield utility-benefit cards are currently handled by phone rather than at the counter.

The City says UnitedHealthcare UCard utility payments cannot currently be processed at the office, by Alcoa’s phone payment system or through its regular online payment portal. UCard payments can also take several business days to reach Alcoa, so they are not a good choice for a last-minute deadline.

City of Alcoa Utilities Login

Alcoa’s online utility-payment system is processed through SEDC’s secure payment platform. Existing customers can sign in using the account credentials associated with their utility bill.

First online visit Check your paper utility bill first

The City says a login and temporary password may be printed on the bill.

No login information? Create online credentials

Alcoa says customers can create a login and password using their account number and the name under which the account is listed.

Official Alcoa Utility Payment Login
After opening the Alcoa utility login
  1. Enter the account number exactly as it appears on your City of Alcoa bill.
  2. Enter the password associated with the account.
  3. If you cannot sign in, use the portal’s password-recovery option rather than creating repeated payment attempts.
  4. Verify the account before submitting money.
  5. Keep the payment confirmation because online payments are received by the City on the following business day rather than instantly.
Multiple Alcoa accounts: the City’s payment page says the current system does not link multiple accounts into one payment. If you manage more than one service account, verify each account separately.

Paperless E-Billing

Alcoa also offers electronic billing. Customers who enroll receive the monthly bill by email with the balance and a link to the online payment system. The City’s published terms say e-bills can be sent to only one email address and paper bills stop after enrollment.

Official Alcoa Paperless Billing Information
After opening the e-billing page
  1. Read the paperless-billing terms before enrolling.
  2. Prepare the utility account number, phone number, service information and email address requested by the form.
  3. Remember that paper bills stop after enrollment.
  4. Use an email address you monitor because only one email address can receive the e-bill.

Late City of Alcoa Utility Bill & Disconnection Timing

Alcoa utility bills are issued monthly and are due on or before the date printed on the bill. If the normal due date falls on a weekend or a City holiday, Alcoa says payment is accepted on the next working day without a penalty or late fee.

After the due date

A 5% penalty is applied to the net amount of the unpaid bill.

10 days after the due date

Alcoa says another $25 late fee is added and utility service may be disconnected.

Do not assume the online balance shows every late charge. The City’s payment disclaimer says penalty or late fees may not be reflected in the balance displayed online.
Partial payment is not guaranteed to prevent shutoff. Alcoa specifically warns that partial payments on delinquent accounts may still result in disconnection.

What to Do When the Account Is Near Cutoff

  1. Check the due date and any final or cutoff notice printed on the bill.
  2. Do not use the normal online payment system when immediate credit is required.
  3. Call 865-380-4700 to confirm the total amount needed and the correct payment method.
  4. Keep the receipt or payment confirmation after paying.
  5. If electricity remains out after an account issue is resolved, follow the City’s outage or service-restoration instructions rather than repeatedly paying.

Sewer $80

These are the City’s current published residential deposit amounts when a deposit is required. Alcoa says an application cannot be processed until required deposits and service fees are paid.

If a credit check results in no deposit being required for an emailed application, the City says the $25 service fee is added to the first bill.

Official Alcoa Residential Utility Service Instructions
After opening the residential-service page
  1. Choose the in-person or email application process.
  2. Open and complete the Residential Utility Service application.
  3. Prepare a government-issued ID for each applicant and your lease or ownership documents.

  5. If applying by email, expect processing for the following business day and wait for the City to tell you the required deposit amount.

Alcoa Electric Outage Map & Service Area

Report a City of Alcoa electric outage to 865-380-4890. The City also operates an online outage map with an outage-reporting option.

  2. Use the Report an Outage option if appropriate.
  3. You can also call 865-380-4890 to report the interruption.
  4. Do not approach downed lines or damaged electrical equipment to investigate an outage yourself.

Alcoa Electric Serves More Than Alcoa City Limits

Alcoa Electric’s published service list includes areas such as Alcoa Highway, Louisville, the airport area, Springbrook, Heritage, Walland/Laurel Valley, Wildwood, Old Piney, Blockhouse and Chilhowee, along with several other communities and corridors.

That is why an address outside the City of Alcoa can still have Alcoa Electric service. If you are unsure which electric utility serves a property, call the Business Office at 865-380-4700 before opening an account.

Water and Wastewater Service Area Is Different

The City’s Water & Wastewater Services Division says its system extends beyond Alcoa’s city limits as well—from the Jones Bend area of Fort Loudoun Lake to the north, west toward Middlesettlements Road, east toward Wildwood and Nails Creek, and south to the Maryville city limits.

Moving within Blount County? Do not assume the electric, water and sewer providers are identical at the new address. Check each service before arranging a move.

Before calling, compare the usage shown on the bill rather than only the dollar amount. Alcoa’s bill includes a usage-comparison area showing current consumption, prior-month consumption and prior-year consumption.
