Georgetown Utilities: Bill Pay, Login, Phone & Service Help 2026
Georgetown, Texas • City utility customer guide
If you need to pay a City of Georgetown utility bill, use QuickPay, sign in to the customer portal, start service, report an electric outage or understand current electric and water rates, the official routes are now on the City’s georgetowntexas.gov system.
Georgetown utility accounts can include electric, water, wastewater, solid waste, recycling and other municipal charges. Service territories do not always match city boundaries, so confirm which provider actually serves your address before assuming the City supplies every utility.
Georgetown Utilities Quick Answers
The City’s current QuickPay page asks for your Account ID. You can find it on your utility bill.
Georgetown says new utility starts require two business days to schedule field staff.
The City’s utility maps show Georgetown, PEC and Oncor service areas around the community. Water service areas also vary.
How to Pay a City of Georgetown Utility Bill
The City’s updated customer system offers both a full portal and a no-login QuickPay route. Use QuickPay when you simply need to make a payment; use the portal when you also need account history, usage information, service requests or account settings.
Enter the Account ID from your utility bill, complete the account lookup and review the payment before submitting.
Best when you want to check balance, account information, usage, communications or ongoing service settings.
Use when a payment is time-sensitive, the portal is not working or your service status is unclear.
Useful when your account issue requires staff assistance rather than only payment.
After opening QuickPay
- Enter the Account ID requested by the City portal.
- Find the Account ID on your current Georgetown utility bill.
- Complete the verification step and continue to the account.
- Check that the balance and account information match the bill you intend to pay.
- Submit the payment once and keep the confirmation until the account updates.
Georgetown Utilities Login, Registration and Account Tools
The City’s customer portal now separates full account login from QuickPay. On the sign-in page, customers can also access balance lookup and a move-in request.
Use the portal when you need more than a one-time payment, especially for ongoing account management or a move-out request.
The current registration process sends a six-digit verification code to your email and also requires utility-account information.
After opening the customer portal
- Use Sign in if you already created portal access.
- Choose QuickPay if you only need to pay without normal login.
- Use balance lookup if you need to check an account balance without completing a payment.
- If registering, keep your email accessible because the verification code is time-sensitive.
- Keep your utility Account ID and other activation information available during registration.
Late Georgetown Utility Bill, 10% Penalty and Disconnection
Georgetown’s utility ordinance says that when payment is not received by the due date, a 10% penalty is added and a final notice is mailed.
If the balance still has not been paid by the following month’s due date, a City field representative may be dispatched to disconnect utility service.
Payment Plans for Exceptional Bills
Georgetown’s ordinance allows repayment plans on a case-by-case basis for certain unusual circumstances, including a substantial water leak or substantial electric-equipment malfunction.
Approved balances can be divided into as many as 12 monthly installments. The installment is added to the normal monthly bill, and defaulting on the arrangement can terminate the plan.
Official Georgetown Utility Service OrdinanceAfter opening the utility ordinance
- Find the section covering billing, delinquency and service disconnection.
- Compare the ordinance with the due date and balance on your actual bill.
- If you need a repayment plan, contact Customer Care and explain the circumstance that caused the unusually large balance.
- Do not assume a partial payment automatically prevents disconnection.
Start, Stop or Add Georgetown Utility Service
Georgetown updated its official moving instructions in September 2026. The most important timing rule is that new account starts require two business days so field staff can be scheduled.
Starting New Service
After opening the City’s moving guide
- Choose the section for moving in, moving out or adding another account.
- Follow the City’s self-service link for the correct task.
- For move-in, double-check the address before submission.
- Save the move confirmation number.
- Allow at least two business days for field scheduling.
Closing an Existing Account
Georgetown says move-out requests are handled through the online customer portal. If you have never registered for portal access, you must create it before completing the move-out process.
First-time portal registration requires access to your email for a verification code and your Utility Account ID.
Keeping Two Addresses Open Temporarily
Existing customers can request an additional account without immediately closing the old one. Georgetown’s current instructions tell customers to turn off the “move out existing account” option when they still need both addresses active.
Georgetown Electric Outage and Water Service Problems
For a City of Georgetown electric outage, call 512-930-3640. The City’s live outage viewer also provides an online reporting option through the outage information window.
Use the official outage viewer to see current and planned outages affecting City electric customers.
Have the service address, problem start time and details such as no water, low pressure or a visible leak ready.
After opening the outage viewer
- Check the map and outage summary for your area.
- Look for current or planned outages near your service address.
- Use the reporting function shown in the outage information window or call 512-930-3640.
- Do not approach downed lines, damaged electric equipment or flooded electrical facilities.
Georgetown Utility Rates in 2026
Georgetown’s current residential electric, water and wastewater rates took effect October 1, 2025 and remain posted for 2026 billing. Solar/net-energy-metering rules have a separate March 1, 2026 effective date.
Residential Electric Rate
Fixed residential electric customer charge.
Residential energy component before the current Power Cost Adjustment.
Current PCA displayed on Georgetown’s rate page.
Georgetown also lists a $1 monthly residential energy-conservation fee. Utility customers inside city limits are subject to a $2.40 monthly streetlight fee, and the City lists a 2% residential electric sales tax inside city limits.
Residential Water Rates
Water uses a base charge plus tiered consumption pricing. For a common 5/8-inch meter, the current base charge is $33.25 inside city limits and $40 outside city limits.
First residential usage tier.
Higher usage moves into the second tier.
Rates rise sharply once monthly use passes 15,000 gallons.
Outdoor irrigation can make this tier especially important.
Highest posted residential tier.
Example: 7,000 Gallons of Water + Residential Wastewater
Example covers the listed water and residential wastewater charges only. It does not include electric, solid waste, drainage, taxes, streetlight fees or other applicable utility-account charges.
After opening the utility-rates page
- Choose Electric, Water or Wastewater depending on the charge you are checking.
- Confirm the effective date shown above the rate schedule.
- For water, identify the meter size and whether the property is inside or outside city limits.
- For electric, separate the customer charge, energy charge and Power Cost Adjustment.
- Compare the rate with actual consumption shown on your bill or customer portal.
Why a Georgetown Utility Bill Can Jump Suddenly
Georgetown’s rate structure makes usage more important than a simple month-to-month dollar comparison. Water becomes progressively more expensive as usage enters higher tiers, while electric charges depend on both kWh consumption and the Power Cost Adjustment.
The current residential water rate increases from $4.20 to $7.35 per 1,000 gallons above that threshold.
Weather, air-conditioning runtime and the PCA can all affect the electric portion of the bill.
The City’s ordinance allows case-by-case installment plans for certain substantial leaks or electric-equipment malfunctions.
Georgetown Trash Service Has Important Neighborhood Exceptions
Georgetown utility service areas overlap, and solid waste is a good example. The City’s September 2026 moving guide says Mayfield Ranch (Parkside) and Highlands garbage service is not handled through normal City of Georgetown solid-waste service.
In those communities, garbage is contracted through the MUD and HOA, provided by Texas Disposal Systems, and billed as part of the sewer rate.
Georgetown’s current moving guide lists collection times of 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. from September 2 through May 25 and 6:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. from May 27 through August 31.
